Campaigners seeking the development of a cinema in Donegal Town say they are hopeful the project could yet go ahead.
Developer WJ Dolan had plans to build a five-screen cinema in the town shot down last year.
The plan was turned down on a number of grounds including parking and signage.
However, it is understood the developer has plans to resubmit the application to Donegal County Council.
It is understood the area identified for the new silver screen has been rezoned and may now be favourably looked upon by planners.
Plans to build a cinema in the town received huge local support with more than 200 people attending a protest meeting when the application was eventually turned down.
A spokesperson for the online campaign group ‘We Want Or Cinema’said “Big credit has to go out WJ Dolan and team for continuing on with this project. It’s never easy to keep momentum going when knockbacks happen. WJ Dolan gave us his word that he wouldn’t give up and he has kept his side of the bargain. Let’s hope its Donegal Towns time to shine with the big stars on screen.”
