The semi-finals of the winter league took place last weekend and in the qualifiers section, Nathaniel McGrory & Francis McGrory played Jim Caldwell & Ciaran Mc Laughlin.

This match was a very close game with Jim & Ciaran taken an early lead to go one up through 6, however, Nathaniel and Francis fought back to take a two-hole lead into the back 9.

The match could have had gone anyway over the next seven holes but the father & son combination managed to secure the win at the 16th hole by 3&2.

In the other semi-final, Cormac Doherty & Leo Sheehy were playing Oliver Doherty & Mickey Mc Cann. This match was also very affair with Mickey McCann rolling back the years to play some outstanding golf and being very unfortunate to find themselves 1 down after 9.

There was very little in the match over the next 6 holes with Cormac & Leo going 2 up after 12 only for Oliver & Mickey to level the game again at the 15th hole. However, Cormac & Leo managed to win the next two holes in succession to secure the victory by 2&1.

The final promises to be a very close match with competition favourites and playing some outstanding golf Cormac Doherty & Leo Sheehy playing last years winners the father & son combination of Nathaniel & Francis McGrory.

Only one of the non-qualifiers semi-final matches took place last weekend with Tony Mc Sherry & Hugh Doherty beating Benny Murphy & Sean Murphy.

This match was very close throughout and went down to the 18th hole where big Tony Mc Sherry managed to sink a 20-foot birdie to secure the victory 1 up.

Tony & Hugh now await the winners of the other semi-final between Stephen Fitzpatrick & Seamus Mc Gee v Derek Smith & Martin Barber.
