Buncrana Golf: Full roundup as Cormac Doherty and Leo Sheehy take Winter League Title

Both finals of the Winter League took place last weekend and in the qualifiers section, Cormac Doherty & Leo Sheehy took the title by defeating Nathaniel & Francis McGrory 3 &2.

There was some excellent golf played in this match and Cormac & Leo went one up at the 3^rd only for Nathaniel & Francis to level it again at the 4^th. The rest of the front 9 holes were halved in regulations and everything was all square going into the back 9.

When both Nathaniel & Francis missed their par putts at the 10^th hole Cormac & Leo took full advantage by going par, birdie and par at the next three holes to go three up and maintained this advantage over the remaining holes.

Congratulations to Cormac & Leo as they played some tremendous golf throughout the competition and deserve their position as winter league champions.

In the non-qualifiers section, Stephen Fitzpatrick & Seamus Mc Gee beat Hugh Doherty & Tony Mc Sherry 3&1. This match was also a close affair with Stephen & Seamus taking a 1 hole lead into the back nine.

Hugh & Tony could never get back on level terms and with Stephen & Seamus two up with two to play the big hitting Stephen Fitzpatrick secured the victory and title with a fantastic birdie at the 17^th hole.

18 Hole Stableford Sweep

The results of last weeks 18 hole stableford sweep are as follows; 1^st Jonny Morrison (10) 42 pts, 2^nd Oliver Doherty (4) 41 pts b.o.t., Gross Niall Mc Laughlin (7) 69 gross and 3^rd Liam Lynch (14) 41 pts.

There will be an 18 Hole Open Stableford this weekend Saturday 12^th & Sunday 13^th January 2019, last cards on Sunday will be 10:30 a.m. and there is a timesheet in operation.

Mini-League

There will be a Mini-League starting weekend Saturday 26^th and Sunday 27^th January which will run for 4 weeks. The format will be pairs playing greensomes, betterball and scramble to qualify for the match play stages.

Names are now being taken and this competition promises to be a very competitive and exciting format for the pairings involved.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €1,000.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Membership Deals

There are great membership deals available at present i.e. golf until March 1^st 2020 – Men €333.00, Ladies €232, complete beginners male €260.00 and Lady €190.00 all rates inclusive of G.U.I. & Insurance fees.

Annual General Meeting

The Annual General Meeting of the Buncrana Golf Club will take place on Sunday 13^th January 2019 @ 2:00 p.m. sharp and all members are requested to attend.
