Cranford secured promotion to the Premier Division when they overcame a dogged Lagan side in Orchard Park on Sunday despite the home sides excellent start.

The visitors came more into the game and forced several corners and throw-ins. Centre forward Kevin Doherty caused the Lagan defence problems with his movement.

Lagan defended well with veteran Paul Rodgers outstanding. Chris Carr had a shot cleared off the line and Jason Quinn pulled off several good saves.

The breakthrough came two minutes into the second half. The Lagan defence cleared another long throw-in.

The ball broke to Kyle Mc Fadden who drove home from the edge of the area. Lagan responded well and Ross Hamlyn forced a good save.

Josh Hay got in several good crosses but Cranford were very solid at the back. The second came when Cranford were awarded a penalty on eighty minutes and Chris Carr fired home.

Jason Quinn did well to push a late effort away off the bar. An entertaining game with both teams showing great commitment. Congratulations to Cranford on their promotion.

Referee: Seamie Ferry.
