Letterbarrow Celtic sealed promotion to Division 1 with a 2-1 victory over champions Kerrykeel ‘71 at Rab’s Park on Saturday.

The home side were missing a host of first-team players but still had a strong squad with young Mark Gallagher outstanding.

Sean Little and Paddy Carr went close for the ‘71 in the first ten minutes. Letterbarrow had a goal disallowed on twenty minutes when James Mc Grory’s free-kick had to be retaken.

Letterbarrow took the lead on fifty-eight minutes when McGrory headed home an Alan Foxten free-kick.  Kerrykeel pushed hard for an equaliser and were rewarded on eighty minutes when Sean Little fired home from twenty-five yards.

With Letterbarrow needing a win they pushed men forward and got their reward on eighty-seven minutes when Paul Mc Girr fired home.

Kerrykeel hit the post in injury time when Patsy Friel’s shot from twelve yards beat the keeper. Team efforts from both sides.

Referee: Barry Hunter
