A public meeting will be held on Long Lane in light of the recent anti-social behaviour that has occurred in the last few days.
Residents claim they are in fear of even leaving their homes due to verbal and physical attacks from what they claim to be youths and adolescents.
It follows a spate of incidents in the area in which windows were smashed, people were verbally abused and items were stolen locally.
A fire at Fair Green Park was the tipping point for many concerned local residents.
Local resident and community activist, Finn O Donnell said he has received messages from residents now for the last few weeks.
He said “I knew how bad it was in my community but I was honestly shocked and appalled at the level of attacks that have happened.
“Because I have a platform now, people feel safe to text me their issues and know it will be confidential but they are scared to come out and say anything publicly in case they are attacked further.
“A young lady texted me a few days and told me of the horror she and her family have to go through.”
One resident who wished to remain anonymous said “We are all so sick of it and always hearing of the Long Lane being put on a negative light. It’s now time that we take matters into our hands and we will because we are fed up with it”
The meeting will take place at Doorway Project this Monday at 6pm. All residents from the Letterkenny area are invited to attend.
