Seaview Respite House in Mountcharles is set to open under the operation of RehabCare in the coming weeks, despite anxiety over the future of the service.
RehabCare, who is the new service provider at Seaview House, confirmed that the centre will open once final remedial works are completed at the site in Dromore Lower, Co Donegal.
Funding problems surrounding the charity have created confusion over the future of services at Seaview House. The healthcare charity is seeking €2M from the Department of Health to bridge a funding shortfall. However RehabCare have said that they met with families a number of times in recent weeks to keep them updated on the progress of the transfer of the service at Mountcharles.
Respite provision will increase from three days to five at Seaview House
A spokesperson for RehabCare said: “We are very much looking forward to opening the doors at Seaview House shortly and rolling out this nurse-led service which we know is vital to the community.
“We would like to take this opportunity to guarantee that every step has been taken to ensure minimal disruption to service users, and we want to reassure families that continuity of care and the provision of a person-centred quality service for the adults and children who will access this service is our number one priority.”
