Buncrana Golf Club: Pauric O Flaherty Takes the W. P. Mc Carter Memorial / RNLI Open

The competition last weekend was the W. P. Mc Carter Memorial / RNLI Fundraiser Open Stableford and there were some great scoring over the two days.

The best score of the weekend was returned by 3 handicapper Pauric O’ Flaherty. Pauric shot a very impressive 2 under gross over the front 9 holes and then another 1 under gross over the back 9 holes to amass his winning score of 42 pts.

This is the golf that made Pauric one of the best amateur golfers about and if he maintains his commitment to practising he will be a force to reckon with over the coming months.

Full results of the W. P. Mc Carter Memorial / RNLI Fundraiser Open Stableford are as follow;1st Pauric O’ Flaherty (3) 42 pts, 2nd Willie Mc Laughlin (23) 41 pts b.o.t., Gross Liam O’ Donnell (9) 70 gross, 3rd John Porter (27) 41 pts b.o.t., Best Day Damien McCauley (23) 40 pts (Saturday), Visitor Eugene O’ Connell (N.W.) (10) 36 pts and Back 9 Michael V. Dessel (14) 23 pts  – C.S.S. 64

Competition

The competition this weekend Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th May will be the James Hegarty Memorial Open Stableford which is sponsored by Hegarty’s Furniture & Giftware Buncrana. There is a timesheet in operation and a tee time can be booked by contacting the clubhouse @ 0749362279.

Find the Joker Fundraising

The “Find the Joker” is up and running again with a Jackpot of €575.00, lines only cost €2 each and this draw is open to members and non-members alike. Lines can be purchased in the clubhouse or through chief seller Oliver Doherty.

Juvenile Lessons

Juvenile Lessons for boys & girls have commenced on Wednesdays from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and the cost is €5.00.

Meal Deal Competition

The winner of the first Meal Deal of the year was in the form Pauric O’ Flaherty who shot a very impressive 37 pts to take the first prize on a break of a tie.

The Meal Deal Competition will run every Thursday and the cost to enter this competition is €18.00 for members and €25.00 for visitors. The competition entry includes an 18 hole open Stableford and a fantastic two-course meal in the award-winning Drift Inn Bar & Restaurant after your game. Don’t despair if you can’t use your meal deal voucher on the day of the competitions it can be used on Fridays as well. This is the best meal deal about and with the greens the best in the county it’s an excellent opportunity to experience the course and savour from fantastic food afterwards.

Captains Events

The Club Captain Mr. Benny Murphy will get his competitions to calendar underway this Friday 24th May with the ladies playing for the Captains Prizes. There will be the traditional Captains Mixed Scramble on Wednesday 29th May starting @ 6:30 p.m. Names are now being taken for this teams of four events and the Juveniles will play on Thursday 30th May for the Captain’s Prizes.

The main event will take place over Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June with the male members playing for the much coveted Captain’s Prizes.

The entrance fee for the Captain’s Prizes is €25.00 which includes entry to the presentation Dinner & Dance on Sunday 2nd June @ 8:00 p.m. sharp in the Inishowen Gateway Hotel and everyone is welcome to attend this presentation Dinner & Dance and tickets can be purchased in the clubhouse.

Membership Deals

There are great membership deals available at present i.e. golf until March 1st 2020 – Men €350.00, Ladies €232, complete beginners male €260.00 and Lady €190.00 all rates inclusive of G.U.I. & Insurance fees.

A reminder to all members paying by instalments all membership fees have to be paid in full on or before 1st May 2019 failure to comply will result in your membership being terminated.
