‘He has a big future’: Dermot Weld’s praise for Oisin Orr

Donegal jockey Oisin Orr rides in his first group two race this afternoon in Germany.

Orr had his latest winner yesterday at Gowran Park, when he took the evens Anya Ylina to victory in the Kilkenny Pembroke Hotel Maiden – his 19th winner of 2019.

Orr has ridden several winners for Dermot Weld, for whom he rides Imaging in Baden-Baden today.

“If he gets a break on the weight he has the potential to do very well,” Weld said

“He’s a very talented young rider.

“I’ve always been an admirer of his. It’ll be difficult for him keeping his weight but provided he does he has a big future.

“He had a quiet year last year and we supported him. I put him up in the big handicap at York.”

Orr has won twice this year on Imaging – at Leopardstown and Naas in April.
