Donegal is set to bask in warm and sunny weather this weekend as summer finally arrives in the north-west.
Friday and Saturday will be warm and dry with temperatures reaching up to 20C.
The sun will be at its best on Friday, with more hazy conditions expected tomorrow.
The good conditions will be ideal for the Donegal International Rally as stages are held in some of the county’s most scenic locations.
Unfortunately, Met Eireann has forecast a return of the rain on Sunday. The day will remain warm, with temperatures of 15-20C. But heavy and thundery rain is due to arrive in northern counties by Sunday afternoon.
Next week looks set to be the hottest week of the year so far. Early forecasts say that high temperatures of 24C are expected during the week.
Met Eireann forecasters said: “Latest indications are for very warm and humid weather, with temperatures several degrees above normal, generally into the low 20s, and even a little higher on some of the days later in the week.
“Whilst there will be lengthy spells of summer sunshine, some heavy thundery showers will break out from time to time too.”
Beach day anyone?
