A partial lunar eclipse could be visible from Ireland this Tuesday night on the 50 year anniversary of the first Moon Landing.
Two-thirds of the moon will be cast in shadow when the Earth crosses between the sun and moon.
Parts of the moon will turn a copper colour during the event, which is expected to be visible from Ireland between 10pm and midnight. Visibility will depending on cloud cover, but stargazers are advised to check the sky for the historic event.
According to Astronomy Ireland, the best views will be just as the sky darkens and the moon rises.
The eclipse falls on the 50th anniversary of the launch of Apollo 11 from Florida – which took the first men to the moon.
The next partial lunar eclipse is not expected until 19 November 2021.
