The Minor League team played Bundoran away on Thursday last, with Letterkenny were 4.5/0.5 up with 19 holes for the return game.

The team consisted of Kevin Roche/Pluincead O’Fearraigh, Tim O’Farrell/Noel Duggan, Tom McDonagh/Pat Keating, Jo McManus/Michael Shiel and Team Captain Bobby Mullally/Oisin Harkin.

The conditions in Burdoran favoured the home team with a strong wind blowing throughout the whole game.  Letterkenny lost four matches out of the five however the holes lost were kept down to a minimum.

The whole competition was balanced on Letterkenny drawing the final game.

Pat Keating and Tom McDonagh were on the 18th green both had a shot to draw the game, Tom McDonagh was furthest away from the hole so he went for it and got the putt. That left Letterkenny winning on hole difference.

Letterkenny is now in the semi-finals of the Minor League.

The All Ireland Four-Ball first round of the semi-final was played in Letterkenny against Templepatrick on Sunday 04/08/19.  Chris Nee (Captain) knew that it was going to be a tough game as all semi-finals are hotly contested.

Chris put out a strong team – Matthew Dunne/Donnie Costigan, Brian O’Donnell/Lester Speer, Tommy Dempsey/Adrian Daly, John Russell/Paul McEldowney and Ian Ireland/John Bowe.

The match started at 2pm and while the conditions at that time were perfect for golf the weather turned for the worst about 6pm and deteriorated into thunder with showers and lightning.

Play was suspended for a short while however Letterkenny finished with a 3/2 win which was an excellent result under difficult conditions.

In a recent match, the Seniors beat Crutch. The Scratch Team lost 3/2 to Ballyliffin at home, the return leg is on Friday at 4pm.

While Letterkenny Scratch Team have an uphill battle it’s all down to performance on the day.

Liam Rodgers won the Cat 4 Plus competition  on Monday evening 05/09/19 with 26 pts. (bot) over 13 holes. The runner up was Shaun McGlinchey 26 pts.
