The father of the three children found dead in a Dublin house last night is originally from Co Donegal.

Andrew McGinley, whose three children were found dead at the family home in Newcastle, is originally from outside Donegal Town.

He attended Annbey Vocational School but it is understood moved to Dublin many years ago.

He still has close links to the area and the family regularly spent time in Donegal.

It is also understood he has family links to Mountcharles.

Mr McGinley is being comforted by family and friends following the tragedy last night.

Gardai have named the three children found dead in a house in Dublin last night.

At approximately 7.45pm last night, Gardaí responded to a call at Parson’s Court, Newcastle, Co. Dublin.

Ambulance personnel and responding Gardaí discovered the bodies of three children in the house, brothers & sister Conor (aged 9), Darragh (7) and Carla (3) McGinley.

A female relative, aged in her 40’s, was found at the scene and is currently receiving medical attention in Tallaght University Hospital.

The woman is understood to be the children’s mother.

The scene is currently being examined by members of the Garda Technical Bureau. Assistant State Pathologist Margot Bolster has attended the scene.
