Donegal Gardai have issued a plea to motorists after a spate of drink and drug-drive arrests over the weekend.
Ballyshannon Gardaí got a call to a single vehicle Road Traffic Collision overnight last night (Sat/Sun).
A vehicle crashed coming off a slip road onto the N15 by-pass in Ballyshannon.
Ambulance crews attended the scene as did the fire brigade.
The driver failed a roadside breath-test and was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
There were a couple of passengers in the car but luckily nobody was hurt.
Meanwhile, in Letterkenny yesterday evening (Sat) the Roads Policing Unit had three detections of drivers driving under the influence of illegal drugs. (Cannabis and Cocaine).
A Garda spokesperson said “When will the message hit home? Do lives have to be lost in order for some people to listen?
“It is never ever ok to drive under the influence of alcohol or illegal drugs. Please do not wait until it is too late to take this message on board.”
