Donegal community group rallies to put emergency supplies in place

A COMMUNITY in Donegal is rallying amid the coronavirus criss to get emergency supplies in place for the needy in their area.

The Killea Community Matters Group in association with local businesses Matt’s Takeaway at The Alt Bar, convened in recent days with a view to tackling the challenges.

Businesses across Donegal have pulled their shutters down over the last couple of days and the future remains uncertain for the public and business communities alike.

Within the greater Killea Area, the group says that it will be ready should the spread of Covid-19 continue to escalate.

“We have agreed to wait and see the proposals that come from the government first, but on the off chance that this is not forthcoming we have decided to put in place emergency supplies thereafter,” the group said.

“We are planning to look after the most needed within this area. We are compiling a list of people that will need this service.”

Anyone who knows of anyone living alone or struggling families who may need such assistance is asked to message the Killea Community Matters Facebook page or to get in touch with local Fianna Fáil Cllr Paul Canning on 086-3839004.
