Return of rain showers sparks warning over slippy roads

Gardaí in Donegal are urging motorists to take extra care on the roads this week as the rain returns.

After a long dry spell, there is a risk of slippery conditions when showers start again.

Met Eireann is forecasting a change in the weather from Wednesday. There will be a mix of rain showers and “good dry spells” for the rest of the week, which may affect road conditions and increase the risk of skidding.

“It takes longer to stop on wet roads so slow down and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front. Please leave extra time for your journey if the road conditions are poor,” a garda spokesperson said.
