Funeral details announced for well-known Parish Priest

Shock and sadness spread through the communities of Glenswilly and Falcarragh on Thursday as news broke that The Very Rev Hugh Sweeney had passed away.

Rev Sweeney was the parish priest of Glenswilly and lived in Killult, Falcarragh.

The popular clergyman passed away at his home following an illness.

It has been announced that his Funeral Mass will take place on Sunday 10th May and will be streamed live online.

Details have been released and are as follows: 

Due to the current HSE and Government restrictions regarding Covid-19 the wake, funeral and burial is strictly private but may be viewed on various media platforms. Rosary will be said both Friday and Saturday nights at 9pm and may be viewed via mcnmedia/Christ the king Gortahork.

Requiem Mass will be in Saint Finian’s Church, Falcarragh on Sunday, 10th May, at 11am and will be streamed live on Facebook via @Falcarragh Parish with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
