Councillor Albert Doherty has been elected the new Cathaoirleach of the Inishowen Municipal District.
The Sinn Fein representative succeeds Fianna Fáil Councillor Martin McDermott in the Chair.

Cllr Doherty’s party colleague Cllr Terry Crossan was elected as Leas Cathaoirleach, taking over the role from Cllr Paul Canning (Fianna Fail).
Cllr Doherty, from Carndonagh, was re-elected to Donegal County Council on the third count in the May 2019 local elections with 1,151 votes.
Muff-based Cllr Crossan was elected to the Buncrana Electoral Area for the first time with 1,098 of the votes.
