Charlie McConalogue to be appointed as Junior Justice Minister

Donegal TD Charlie McConalogue is to be appointed as a Junior Minister in the Department of Justice.

The Fianna Fáil TD is to be promoted to the position of Minister of State this evening, as Taoiseach Micheál Martin allocates junior ministries between the parties of the new coalition.

McConalogue served as the Fianna Fáil Spokesperson on Agriculture, Food & The Marine in the previous government.

The Gleneely man will be Donegal’s only representative with a ministerial position in the new government.

It comes after former Minister for Education Joe McHugh declined a Junior Minister offer earlier today. It’s understood Deputy McHugh has expressed an interest in chairing the Committee on European Affairs.
