Gardaí made a series of dangerous driving detections on roads across Donegal this weekend.
The Bank Holiday road safety warnings did not reach everyone, according to the authorities, after a number of incidents.
One motorist in the Buncrana region was caught speeding and driving under the influence of cannabis. Gardaí stopped the motorist on Sunday evening after they were found to be travelling at a speed of 126KPH in a 100KPH zone on the N13. The motorist then tested positive for the presence of cannabis.
Buncrana Roads Policing Unit also stopped a motorist who was speeding at 150km/hr over the weekend.
There were more arrests on Sunday night/Monday morning. One motorist in the Milford area was caught under the influence of cocaine. Another driver in Letterkenny was detected drink driving.
“Sadly it would appear that the Bank Holiday Road Safety message was lost on some people!” a garda statement said.
