Motherwell onslaught puts paid to Cowan’s Europa League journey

KEITH Cowan and Glentoran exited the Europa League last night as a second-half onslaught by Motherwell dashed their dreams.

Callum Lang, Stephen O’Donnell, Liam Polworth, Tony Watt and Chris Long all netted for Motherwell as the Scottish Premier League side swept the Glens aside in the second half, winning 5-1.

Glentoran, who had Ramelton man Cowan at the heart of their rearguard, had Seanon Clucas sent off early in the second half.

That was the cue for the Fir Park floodgates to open as Motherwell seized charge.

Robbie McDaid bagged a late consolation goal from a penalty.
