THE Donegal Competition Controls Committee (CCC) have agreed on a new date for the 2020 Donegal SFC final.
The CCC have agreed that the game, between Naomh Conaill and Kilcar, will not take place until Easter weekend 2021, Donegal Daily/Donegal Sport Hub can reveal.
The fixture will be played on a date between April 2-5, 2021.
The decision was made following a consultation process involving club officers and management from Naomh Conaill and Kilcar.
The game was due to be played originally at the end of September, but after a positive Covid-19 case in the Kilcar squad, it was moved to October 7.
A subsequent CCC meeting switched the game to October 11, but when the GAA announced a nationwide cessation of club games, the final was among the high profile casualties.
Since the move to Level 5 of the Covid-19 restrictions, club training is not permitted.
The CCC have also been mindful of the slim prospect of a date opening and have, therefore, pushed the game back to April.
A new CCC, to be elected at the annual GAA Convention on December 14, could elect to review this decision should Covid-19 restrictions and the 2021 Allianz League dates enable a rescheduling.
The 2020 IFC relegation play-off between Naomh Colmcille and Naomh Ultan is also to be played and will also need to be re-fixed.Tags:
