Early boost for Finn Harps as Barry McNamee commits again

BARRY McNamee has committed to Finn Harps for another season.

In a major boost to Harps, just over a week after their 2020 campaign ended, the Ramelton man has signed on the dotted line for 2021.

McNamee was a big part of Harps’ Premier Division survival this year, the midfielder previously having been at Derry City and Cork City.

McNamee scored a crucial goal in a 1-1 away draw at Shelbourne and was also on the scoresheet in the recent 3-2 loss to Shamrock Rovers in the FAI Cup quarter-final, scoring Harps’ first goal.

“I’m enjoying my football and delighted to be back,” McNamee said.

“We had a great group this season and in a normal year might have kicked on up the table.”

Harps manager Ollie Horgan – who already has the second of a two-year deal to run – said: “Barry is a great player and was very good for us on that run to end the season. There were a lot of new faces last season and it can be difficult to hold onto lads so we’re delighted to have Barry with us again for next season.”
