BRENDAN Boyce set a new personal best over 30km today.

The Finn Valley AC race walker finished the HP 30km Walks time trial in 2:11:05.

Boyce’s previous best over the distance was 2:14:04.

The Milford man has already qualified for the Olympic Games and will compete next summer in the 50k race walk in Tokyo.

“Today’s time, in tough conditions, indicates good form by Brendan,” Patsy McGonagle, the former Irish Olympic Team Manager, said.

“He will be encouraged by the performance as he gets ready to go to South Africa for a training camp after Christmas.”

Boyce is coached by former World gold medalist Rob Heffernan.
