Agonising miss for Ann-Marie McGlynn’s Olympic hopes

LETTERKENNY AC’s Ann-Marie McGlynn went agonisingly close to reaching the Olympic qualifying time this morning.

McGlynn  was within four seconds of the qualifying mark for the women’s marathon when she competed in Wales.

McGlynn smashed her PB to set a new Donegal record of 2:29:34 at the Cheshire Elite Marathon in Wrexham. The qualifying standard is 2:29:30.

While, there are hopes of an opportunity for McGlynn through the quota system, that seems a remote possibility at this point.

Aoife Cooke ran 2:28:36 this morning to qualify while Fionnuala McCormack has also booked a spot.
