Magees seal place in European Championships quarter-finals

SAM Magee and Chloe Magee have booked a place in the quarter-finals of the European Badminton Championships.

The Raphoe brother-sister team defeated Scotland’s Christopher Grimley and Eleanor O’Donnell in their round of 16 clash this morning.

The Magees won in straight games 21-16 21-15 at the Palace of Sports in Kiev.

Yesterday, the Magees overcame Dutch duo Ties Van Der Lecq and Debora Jille 21-14 19-21 21-14.

They will face number one seeds, Marcus Ellis and Lauren Smith from England, in their quarter-final.

Yesterday evening, Rachael Darragh went down 21-14 21-18 to Israel’s Ksenia Polikarpova in the women’s singles.

Darragh and Paul Reynolds lost out to France pair Eloi Adam and Margot Lambert in the mixed doubles yesterday.
