Emergency services are battling a large gorse fire in the Fintra area this afternoon.

The blaze has broken out on a hillside.

Fire services are at the scene and a the R118 helicopter is in action taking water from Fintra beach to pour on the land.

Killybegs Coast Guard, who assisted in the operation, said: “Thankfully the gorse fire is well and truly under control.”

A yellow warning for wildfires is currently in place from the Department of Agriculture.
