Organisers of the forthcoming virtual Relay for Life are looking for a blizzard of purple!
They are asking cancer survivors to send on photographs of themselves or five second video clips of them wearing the familiar purple tee-shirts for inclusion in this year’s special event which takes place on Saturday, June 5th.
“If you don’t have a purple tee-shirt we can supply one but please send the pictures on to us,” says Relay chairperson, Robert O’Connor.
To acquire the tee-shirt if necessary, survivors can contact either Robert at 087-2716344 or Ena Barrett at 087-9966096.
Thirty teams have signed up for participation in the virtual fund-raiser and while the buzz of actually being present at the LYIT campus won’t, for the second year running, be evident, it nevertheless promises to be a body and soul- enriching experience.
“Ideally we would have loved to have us all coming together at our normal venue in Letterkenny but this will be the next best thing to help us celebrate, remember, and fight back,” insists the chairperson.
The teams have been busy fund-raising by hosting virtual quizzes, coffee mornings and bingo sessions and other events and will continue to do so over the coming weeks.
Meanwhile, if you’re a cancer survivor bring a bit of purple splash to the proceedings by forwarding those photos and video clips.
You can send them on to: relayforlifedonegal@gmail.com but please do so by Monday 17th next.
