The Draperstown community in Derry has been shocked and saddened following the tragic death of a local man in a fishing accident in Donegal.

Michael Conway died in a tragic accident on the River Finn on Wednesday.

It is understood that he was fishing with his brother near the popular Salmon Leap area between Glenmore and Cloghan when he fell into the river.

Tributes have been pouring in for Mr Conway, who is being remembered as a much-loved son, brother and uncle.

His parents, John and Marion Conway, and siblings Sean, Jacqueline (Mulligan) Kevin and Deborah (McNicholl) are being comforted by family at this time.

Mr Conway had many connections to local football clubs, who have also been offering their condolences to the heartbroken family.

Draperstown Celtic said they were shocked and saddened to hear about the tragic passing. Derry Ladies Gaelic Football have also express their heartfelt sympathy to the family and the wider community of Ballinascreen.

Due government restrictions the family home is strictly private. The funeral Mass numbers are limited to family only, with further funeral details to follow.
