MARK English is back on the track this evening in the Czech Republic.

English competes in the men’s 800m at the Golden Spike, a World Athletics Continental Tour Gold meeting, in Ostrava. The event is LIVE on Sport TG4 5-7pm.

The Finn Valley AC man lines up in the Mestský Stadion hoping for a good display to keep up his good world ranking ahead of the Tokyo Olympics this summer.

English is currently ranked 33rd with 48 places available for the Olympics.

To automatically qualify, English, a three-time European medalist, would need to go 1:45.20.

English will also compete on May 29 at the Belfast Irish Milers Meet at the Mary Peters Track.

The Golden Spike was granted an exemption from the Czech Republic’s ban on holding mass events, and the meeting is permitted to welcome 1500 fans into the stadium.
