Ireland’s vaccination programme is making “great headway” with almost one in five adults now fully vaccinated against the coronavirus.
The HSE also confirmed today that half of all adults in Ireland have now received at least one dose.
The government is now aiming to ensure 60% of the population, or 2.5 million people, are fully vaccinated by the end of July.
Paul Reid, chief executive of the HSE, said one million vaccines were administered in May.
The roll-out, Mr Reid said, is resulting in reduced illness, sickness, mortality, and there has been a “massive take-up”.
