Optum lends its support to 2021 Donegal Half Marathon

THE 2021 Donegal Half Marathon will be supported by Optum. 

The company, which has a base in Letterkenny and is part of the UnitedHealth Group of family businesses, will sponsor the volunteer t-shorts for this year’s event which takes place on Sunday, August 29th.

Speaking on behalf of Optum, Veronica Patton, who leads the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility Programme, said Optum Ireland is proud to be associated with the Donegal Half Marathon.

She said: “Optum is based in Letterkenny and our employees have been taking part in this annual event since it began in 2014. The company’s mission is to help people lead healthier lives and we are delighted to promote and contribute to this event.”

Donegal Half Marathon race director, Brendan McDaid, said: “Optum have been with us since the start of the event seven years ago and we greatly appreciate their help and sponsorship.

“Quite a number of Optum employees have competed in the Donegal Half Marathon, while the company also provides teams of volunteers for race day.

“This type of invaluable community support and buy-in makes the task of holding an event like the Donegal Half Marathon so much easier.”

The 2021 Donegal Half Marathon takes place in Letterkenny on Sunday, August 29th and has a 9.20 am start. The event’s main sponsor is the Kernan Retail Group.
