Two men appear in court after €6,000 cannabis seizure

TWO men have appeared in court following a significant drugs find in Letterkenny last night.

The two men were brought before today’s sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

Suspected cannabis, with an approximate street value of €6,000 were found following the search of a car.

Ben Neill (18), with an address at Millbrook Manor, Ballymoney, County Antrim and Adam McClure (19) with an address at Mcarthur Avenue, Ballymoney, County Antrim, appeared in connection with the find, at Pearse Road Letterkenny on July 14, 2021.

The two men were each charged with possession of a controlled drug, cannabis, and also with possession of a controlled drug, cannabis, with the intent to sell or supply.

They were represented by solicitor Mr Patsy Gallagher.

Each of the two men were granted bail on their own bond of €500 cash by Judge Deirdre Gearty.

They are due to appear again before the September 27 sitting of Letterkenny District Court.

This seizure forms part of Operation Tara, an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on July 2, 2021.

The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels – international, national, local – involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
