DYLAN Browne-McMonagle won aboard 6/1 shot Merroir on the first day of the Galway Festival.

Leading apprentice Browne-McMonagle had two and a half lengths of a margin at Ballybrit.

Merroir was winning for the third time under the Letterkenny teenager’s direction.

40/1 chance Nibiru was second with No Thanks (3/1) in third.

Browne-McMonagle was a comfortable winner on the Joseph O’Brien-trained mount.

“She’s definitely improving and she won really well today,” Browne-McMonagle said.

“This is my second year and my first winner here. I’m delighted to get off to a good start.”
