Vaccinated travellers from the EU and UK are expected to allowed to travel to the US from November 2021.
An 18-month ban was imposed on travel to the US at the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Financial Times reports today that an announcement is due from the Biden administration to ease the restrictions for fully vaccinated passengers.
Currently, only US citizens, their families or green card holders are allowed enter the US if they have been in the UK or EU in the previous 14 days.
The UK and EU have been lobbying for months for the U.S. to reopen its borders again.
Democratic Congressman Brendan Boyle, who has close family links to Donegal, has welcomed the move:
I welcome this positive development and thank the Administration. https://t.co/NPmlAm0sAP
