DONEGAL athletes enjoyed success at the SIAB Schools’ International in Derby on Saturday.

Lifford-Strabane AC pair Adrienne Gallen and Harriet McCrossan, Tir Chonaill AC duo Lucy McGlynn and Tori Murchin and Hannah Murray of Finn Valley AC all left with medals.

Gallen closed a wonderful season with silver in the girls hammer event.

Gallen reached out to a best of 58.49 metres, edged for gold by England’s Lily Murray (58.81m).

The 2021 season has been a real breakout for Gallen, who recently set a stunning new Tailteann Games record of 62.80m.

Gallen won a bronze medal at the Franconville U18 meet in France last month and has twice broken the Donegal senior record.

McGlynn was the silver medalist in the 300m hurdles, recording a new PB of 44.05 seconds, while Murchin took the high jump bronze medal.

Hannah Murray ran a PB of 40.50 seconds in the 300m, but missed out on a medal, with McCrossan also setting a 100m PB of 12.46 seconds, similar just outside the medals.

McCrossan, McGlynn and Murray were on the Irish 4x100m team that won bronze.

Lifford-Strabane AC’s Ellie McCurdy reached out to 40.65m in the girls javelin, inched out for a medal.
