The Roads Policing Unit in Donegal Town issued fixed charge penalty notices to a couple of drivers last night for speeding.

One driver was detected travelling at 135KPH in a 100 KPH speed zone in the Mountcharles area. The driver was transporting a number of passengers home at the time.

A short time later another driver was stopped as they were detected travelling at 145KPH at the same location. This driver was also dropping a passenger home.
Both drivers will now receive a fine of €80 and 3 penalty points.

“Please slow down and remain aware of the speed at which you are travelling at all times.

“Consider your own safety, the safety of any passengers and the safety of other road users.

“If you are travelling as a passenger in a car and the driver is not driving in a safe manner, please do not be afraid to ask them to stop and let you out of the car. Life is fragile and it can be taken in an instant.

“Don’t allow your safety to be put at risk because you were too embarrassed to speak out.”
