Gardai have issued a warning after an oil burner was removed from outside a property in the Ballymacool Woods area of Letterkenny.

The burner was stolen between Tuesday the 9th of November at 10pm and Wednesday the 10th of November at 3pm.

The oil burner was taken from the outside boiler casing.

If anybody observed any suspicious activity in the area between those times or if they have any information that might assist us, please call Letterkenny Gardaí on 074-9167100.

Gardai have also warned people to secure their heating oil using alarms and locks as there is also a rise in this type of theft at this time of year.

A Garda spokesperson said it is important to ensure that your home is as secure as it can be, especially at this time of the year.

Please see www.garda.ie where you will find advice and tips in relation to home security measures that can be taken.
