District Judge to leave Donegal after just two months

November 18, 2021

Judge Raymond Finnegan is to leave his post in Co Donegal after just two months.

The Meath man and former solicitor had been appointed to his post in September.

However, he is now to transfer to the Cavan/Monaghan District

Solicitors expressed their surprise at the move at yesterday’s sittings of the courts in Letterkenny.

Judge Finnegan’s appointment had been a popular one after he expressed his desire to get through the backlogged court lists after the Covid pandemic.

When contacted by Donegal Daily yesterday, a spokesman for the Courts Service Press Office in Dublin said they were not aware of Judge Finnegan leaving his role in Donegal.

No date has yet been fixed for Judge Finnegan’s departure and no announcement on his replacement has been made.
