Donegal County Council’s Road Safety Officer has expressed concern over people losing their patience at roadworks across the county.
Brian O’Donnell told Donegal Daily that they have received increasing reports of incidents around road improvement projects.
He appealed to motorists to have patience and not to break the law around roadworks.
He said “We do have a large number of roadwork projects ongoing across the county at the moment.
“However, we are receiving an increased number of reports of people breaking the law such as jumping traffic lights or not paying attention to roadworks signs at all.
“We would appeal to them to obey the signs and to treat these temporary traffic lights like normal traffic lights.
“We appreciate that people might be frustrated but the roadworks are for the overall betterment and quality of our roads.
“Please don’t take a chance no matter how frustrated you may feel at a traffic light and show respect to other drivers,” he said.
