Andrew McGinley launches legal action against HSE over wife’s care

January 20, 2022

Grieving father Andrew McGinley has launched legal action against the HSE and a Dublin mental health facility over the care of his wife, Deirdre Morley.

Ms Morley killed her three children, Conor, 9, Darragh, 7, and Carla, 3 during a severe psychotic depressive episode in January 2020.

It has been reported today that her husband, Donegal man Andrew McGinley, has begun legal proceedings in the High Court against the HSE, The Governors of St Patrick’s Hospital in Dublin and a named consultant psychiatrist.

The lawsuits relate to alleged failings in the care of Ms Morley.

“I just want to understand why my children died,” Mr McGinley told the Irish Independent.

Ms Morley, who was found not guilty by reason of insanity of the murders of her children, also issued medical negligence proceedings in the High Court yesterday. Ms Morley is currently in the care of the Central Mental Hospital in Dublin.
