Fintan Dewhirst set a new personal best on his way to winning the 400m hurdles at the Franconville Under-18 international in France.
The Tír Chonaill AC man completed the race in 52.98 seconds, ahead of French pair Wassim Taouil and Aymeric Dutrevis.
The St. Columbas Comprehensive, Glenties student is hoping to represent Ireland at the European Under-18 Athletic Championships in Jerusalem next month.
Dewhirst won both the 400m hurdles and 110m hurdles at the Ulster underage Championships in the Antrim Forum the previous weekend.
It was a great weekend for Tír Chonaill athletes, with Lucy McGlynn and Kelly McGrory both setting Donegal records at the Ulster Senior Championships on Saturday.
McGlynn took bronze in the 100m hurdles, with a time of 14.15, while McGrory’s 57.84 in the 400m hurdles to win gold was a massive jump from the previous record she had set of 59.41.
McGlynn was second in the 400m race behind McGrory in a time of 60.16.
Conal Mahon won the triple jump for the Tír Chonaill club, while teammate Daire McDevitt was third.
Geraldine Stewart took home the silver in the senior women’s shot put event.
Brian Ó Domhnaill won gold in the men’s 3k walk as Finn Valley enjoyed plenty of success with Oisín Ó Gailín winning the 5000m, along with Amy Greene winning the steeplechase.
James Kelly from Finn Valley AC won the shot with a 16.14m throw.
Bosco Reid was third behind Lifford-Strabane AC duo Brendan O’Donnell and Ross Henderson in the hammer, while Adrienne Gallen won the women’s event. Henderson also won bronze in the discus
Lifford-Strabane also had a 1-2 from the same family in the javelin as Gareth Crawford beat out his brother Aaron to win the event.
Noeleen Scanlan was second in the women’s 5000m while her fellow Letterkenny AC athletes Ciaran Doherty and Ryan Canning were third in the steeplechase and 400m hurdles respectively.
Cranford AC’s Oisin Kelly was a bronze medalist in the 800m.
