Kilcar prove too strong for Cloughaneely in Donegal SFC

Kilcar followed up their win over Milford in the opening round with another very comfortable and impressive victory in the Donegal SFC in Cloughaneely.

After conceding the first point they then scored ten in a row and had the game wrapped up at half-time as they led by nine points.

Jason McGee kicked a first minute free after a foul on Blake McGarvey cost Andrew McClean an early yellow card.

Kilcar then took control and scored points from all angles.

Conor Doherty started it and was followed by Eoin McHugh, two by Paddy McBrearty , Ryan McShane , Eoin Comack , Ciaran McGinley , Ryan McHugh , Mark McHugh and Mark Sweeney to make it 0-10 to 0-01 after just 18 minutes.

Cloughaneely finally got another score when Blake McGarvey’s shot deflected over the bar off Brian O Donnell.

Conor Doherty’s second, Paddy McBrearty’s third and Eoin McHugh’s second pushed Kilcar out to thirteen points, a lead of eleven, 0-02 to 0-13.

Conor Coyle from play and Jason McGee’s free doubled Cloughaneely’s total to five points but they still trailed by nine points at half-time and a mountain to climb in the second-half at  0-13 to 0-04 behind.

Paddy McBrearty added his fourth point from a free early in the second- half and then both teams had goal chances , Conor Doherty denied by Sean McClafferty and Blake McGarvey forcing Kevin Campbell into a fine save. McBrearty added another free , followed by points by Mark Sweeney and Andrew McClean to make it 0-18 to 0-04.

The home team then hit three in a row, from McGee, Finn McGinley and Shaun Curran.

Ciaran McGinley had the final say with Kilcar’s 19th point as they coasted to victory.
