The Clonmany Festival Committee has announced that €50,000 will be going back into the community from this year’s events.
The major country music festival attracted huge crowds to the Inishowen village earlier this month. Locals and visitors enjoyed open air concerts, family fun events and the Clonmany Agricultural Show.
Proceeds from the festival are set to help local schools, charities and sports clubs.
The committee will be making donations to the following groups:
Clonmany National School Parents Association €5,000.
Cloontagh National School Parents Association €5,000.
Tiernasligo National School Parents Association €5,000
Rashenny National School Parents Association €5,000.
Saint Colmchille Village Care Home €10,000.
Clonmany Tidy Towns Committee €3,000.
Clonmany Christmas Lights Committee €7,000 – it is hoped this money will be used to purchase a reusable Christmas tree for the village.
Clonmany St.Vincent de Paul €5,000.
Clonmany Shamrocks Football Club €5,000.
“In total Clonmany Festival is proudly reinvesting €50,000 in our local community by awarding these groups the above funding,” the Committee said.
“We would like to thank each and everyone who attended this years 53rd Clonmany Festival, your continued support is invaluable and it was heart warming to see you all return to Clonmany Street this year. We would also like to thank all those who supported us in so many different ways.
“Our Committee would like to give a special thanks to all of our volunteers. On Festival week each year there is always over whelming support from our local community. There is a sincere willingness in the community to help out where one can to ensure this show stays the success it is widely known for. Without all of your help and support the festival would never take place.”
