The first ship of an estimated 25 such liners to visit Killybegs this summer will pull into port tomorrow marking the start of the cruise season.
The Seabourne Venture (pictured above) will dock in the Donegal coastal harbour town at 8am.
It will leave port again at 6pm but not before its 264 passengers take a look around Killybegs and visit its shops and restaurants.
While tomorrow’s ship will be one of the smaller passenger list numbers to visit this year, a total of 19,757 passengers are due to visit Killybegs from now until September 17th next.
Once again the increasing number of ships to stop off in Killybegs en route to various destinations will provide a much welcome tourism injection for the local community.
The biggest number of staff and passengers will arrive on the Norwegian Star which arrives at 8am on May 11th next and docks for the day before departing at 7pm that evening.
Between staff and passengers, the ship boasts an impressive combined total of 3,379 people made up of 1,031 staff and 2,348 passengers.
Some of the ships visiting over the summer months are regarded as ‘expedition’ ships with smaller numbers of staff and passengers on board.
