The family of a young Buncrana teenager mounting a brave battle against cancer has issued an appeal for accommodation as their son undergoes vital treatment in Dublin.
Rocco McGinley is aged just 14 but has undergone more in his few short years than most of us.
He had undergone surgery in Texas in the US to tackle a brain tumour and the early indications were that the therapy was working.
However, his condition unfortunately took a turn for the worst in recent days.
Now Rocco needs urgent radium treatment at St Luke’s Hospital in Dublin.
His family have found it difficult to find such accommodation and have now turned to the Donegal community who may have connections in Dublin.
A family spokesperson said “Some of you may have heard that Rocco’s condition has taken a turn recently, his tumour has increased in size and he has had a tough few weeks with him having had covid and deteriorating physical health.
“Rocco will require radium therapy in Dublin starting Monday. We are calling out for some help.
“We are wondering if anyone has any links with somebody who might have a home/air bnb etc in the Dublin area for renting for two weeks that would be able to facilitate Rocco’s family, including his four younger siblings.
“We would require something that would be wheelchair accessible due to Rocco’s currents needs.”
If anybody can help sort accommodation for the McGinley family they are asked to email Geniedoc1@hotmail.com
