President Michael D Higgins will attend most of the funerals of the victims of the Creeslough tragedy.
The funerals of Martin McGill, 49, and Jessica Gallagher, 24, will take place tomorrow while the President is addressing the Council of Europe in Strasbourg.
As a result, he will be represented by his aide de camp.
On Wednesday, the President will travel to Donegal where he will attend the funerals of James O’Flaherty and mother and son James Monaghan and Catherine O’Donnell.
He will also attend the remaining eight funerals and thank members of the emergency services in person.
“He intends to attend all the rest of the funerals and to meet with all of the families, including those he can’t attend the funerals with tomorrow (Tuesday), as well as emergency services,” a spokesperson for President Higgins said.
