Rhys Irwin was winning again at Mallory Park this time in Race 2 for the prestigious Race of the Year award.

On invite only, a selection of racers attended Mallory Park UK this weekend to battle for the award with Rhys getting the call for his team to head for the one day event in Leicestershire.

Sunday morning saw heavy showers and a drop in the track temperature. Superbikes and Supersport racers were paired together. Spirits were high as the sun came out and the teams prepared their machinery.

Rhys, with incredible lap times, qualified on pole for Race 1 putting his Astro Triumph Supersport on the front row of the grid. In Race 1, Rhys battled lap by lap finishing a credible 5th overall. Race 2 he won comfortably with a more even spread of power on track.

“This was a great days racing and I am delighted to be here. I had a good pace and am delighted with my results,” said Rhys.

“It is a great finish to good years racing. BSB Supersport has been ultra competitive this year and I have made a good account of myself. A few weeks off now to relax and catch up with friends and then its back to training again in preparation for next season.”
