PLANNED strike action by Irish childcare providers today has been cancelled pending talks.
The Federation of Early Childhood Providers had planned a protest and pre-school closures today in a dispute over funding.
The action was called off yesterday following confirmation that the Minister for Children has since agreed to a meeting with the FECP on Monday.
A spokesperson for the group said that: “In good faith, the protests have been postponed pending the results from the meeting.”
Minister for Children Roderic O’Gorman said that he welcomed the decision to call off the closures and that he was looking forward to meeting the Federation next week.
