Man to be sentenced for abusing staff at Letterkenny Hospital

A man who abused staff during a drunken episode at Letterkenny University Hospital is to be sentenced in the New Year.

Brian Crawford appeared at Letterkenny District Court on a number of charges.

A number of the charges against the 35 year old of Whitethorn Close in Letterkenny relate to two incidents at the hospital.

On August 9th last at 5.30pm, Gardai were called to the hospital car park where they found a man with his top off.

They asked him for his details but he was unsteady on his feet and had been abusing staff. He was arrested under the Public Order Act.

AT 1.15am the following morning, Gardai received another report of a man making a nuisance of himself at the hospital and found Crawford again at the hospital and he was arrested.

At 1.30pm the following day Gardai found Crawford walking on then Kilmacrennan Road. He was drunk and a danger to himself and traffic and was again arrested for his own safety.

Crawford’s solicitor, Mr Frank Dorrian, said it was clear that his client had issues with alcohol and that he had relapsed on this occasion.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham adjourned the case until January 19th next year for sentencing.
